Who is Brain Dump for?

Account and Settings

Do I need an account?
You can try Brain Dump quickly, but an account gives you reliable cloud sync, full settings access, and API key management.
How do password resets work?
You can request a password reset from Settings. The app sends a reset email and you finish the reset through the secure reset page.
What do the account menu toggles do?
Shake Animations controls urgency animations, Real-time Sync controls automatic updates across active sessions, and Review Before Add controls whether generated todos are confirmed before entering your list.
What does Review Before Add change?
When enabled, generated todos open in a confirmation modal where you can edit or remove items before saving. When disabled, generated items go directly into your list.

Where are my todos stored?
Authenticated users are stored in your account-backed cloud database. Temporary local state is also used in-browser for fast UI responsiveness.
Can I export to other tools?
Yes. Brain Dump supports exports and includes guidance for importing into tools like iOS Reminders, Notion, Todoist, Microsoft To Do, and others.
Can I keep Brain Dump as my only todo app?
Yes, but it is optimized as a fast capture and organize workspace. Many users complete tasks directly, while others export to long-term systems.
API and Billing
How paid API access works and what it unlocks.
Is API access required to use Brain Dump?
No. API access is optional. The core app experience works without subscribing to API access.
What does the $5/month API plan include?
It unlocks API key management and full CRUD access to /api/v1/todos so you can integrate Brain Dump with agents and external programs.
Can beta users have free API access?
Yes. Admins can grant lifetime beta API entitlement to selected users.
Can an API key access another user account?
No. API keys are account-scoped. Todo API operations are restricted to the key owner account.
